The Tim Burton Exhibition

I'm sure at some point you've came across the genius work of Tim Burton, through his association with such films as Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before Christmas and more recently Alice In Wonderland. Well now showing at The Australia Center for the Moving Image (ACMI) at Federation square in Melbourne is a wonderful exhibition dedicated to the work of this amazing director, writer and artist.
The exhibition showcase the work of Burton for his foundation years as an artist and illustrator right up to his latest and current directorial projects. The exhibition also includes a collection of original costumes from Alice In Wonderland, Edward Scissorhands and Batman amongst others. There are many unique film props, puppets, sculptures and the most mesmerizing collection of illustrations and artworks. While you're there you can kick back, take a seat and watch a number of Burton films showing on TV's and screens around the exhibition.
I absolutly recommend a visit (or two if you get a chance) Hire one of the auto guides for only $5 extra it's well worth it as it features a number of interviews and extras. Bring your kids along too, there's a large activity center set up at the back of the exhibition just for them. But hurry the show closes on the 10th of October.

New Steampunk Lolita

I've just added to my collection 2 new sugar sweet hair accessories. These are the first complete pieces from a new steampunk range i've titled "Steampunk Lolita". Each piece brings together vintage watch dials with vintage lace and ribbon, creating a fusion of gothic Neo-Victorian and cheeky Lolita styling.

The first piece in the collection is a sweet little alligator hair clip, featuring a multi-layered bow handmade from vintage white and gray floral embroidered lace. In the center of this bow is a handmade vintage lace rosette with rectangle vintage wrist watch dial embellishment in the center in the center to complete this unique design.

Tea Parties and Dress-Ups what fun!

To celebrate my little sister Jodie's 28 year of birth we had a little tea party, and i made her this lovely cake. Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland had just come out in the cinemas so i thought it fitting that this was the cake to make (lol)...
Later on that evening after getting dressed-up in our finest and making sure our hair and make up were just right, we headed out for an evening of culture and light entrainment. Some of the party guests including a dodgy looking Mad Hatter, Chopper and crazed Ninja.The party was just devine, there was plenty of polite conversation, music and dancing.

(why Alice i don't think that's tea in your tea cup!)

The next morning Jodie awoke to find that here 18 month old son wished he was invited to the lovely party, he spent all morning making sure his make up was just right also.

Yeh Tea Pot Necklace Now Back in stock

Yeh finally as of today my Wonderland Tea Post necklace is now back in stock. I've only had this design available for a little over 2 weeks and the first lot sold out in 3 days!!! Alice in Wonderland....Did you hear???

Did you hear??? Tim Burton is making an Alice in Wonderland movie, it's due for release in March next year and will star Johnny Depp and Aussie newcomer Mia Wasikowska.This brings together 3 of my favorites Alice, Johnny and Tim....oh i can't wait i'm all excited. And to celebrate here's my homage to Alice and friends.

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

I’m so thrilled to have finally finished this piece and offer it to you. This has been a labor of love for many, many months now.

Countless hours have been spent searching to the component and then designing and re-designing the pieces and i finally had it stage where i was happy with the piece. Not only is this a beautiful necklace but it’s also a piece of wearable mixed media art and a story book made from charms and jewellery findings.

To begin i started with large 92x52mm vintage steel filigree which for the base of the pendant. Mounted on top of the filigree is a selection of new and vintage charms which chronicle Alice’s adventure in wonderland. Forming collage background are tiny vintage doll house playing cards. The focal piece of this design is a large 38cm vintage brass basket wave locket with vintage “Paris” clock button. The locket has a fully working hinge and open out, with two sections for photos or keepsakes.

At present the pendant is hung from a 35cm think bronze tone cable chain, but i’m happy to alter the length of the chain or even replace the chain to suit your tastes

I remember toying with this idea back in late 2008, but it took a while to gather all the pieces and longer still to make the mock-up, and even longer still to put the piece together and have it finished, photographed and ready for sale. It piece is currently listed in my Etsy store but i should also have it listed on my website in the next day or so.

ALICE IN WONDERLAND jewellery is soooo cool!!!

As a child, I loved the story of Alice In Wonderland, and imagined myself finding, by accident some secret place on my parents farm, I never did find such a place, but we have created a number of jewellery pieces inspired by the classic story, including charm and cameo necklaces
Many of the pieces feature vintage materials like Czech glass cabochons and old brass setting. Most of the designs are limited editions as a lot of the material used are getting harder and harder to find
