DIY project -fabric panel softies

I just love these super cute printed panel softies. You can find these great panels at craft stores such as Spotlight or online. This one i picked up the other day and have been obsessed with making them since.

With an hour of spare time and a few supplies you can make one yourself. They make great gifts or a sweet decoration for a child's room. Here's how:

SUPPLIES:
FABRIC PANEL
POLY FIBRE STUFFING
COTTON TREAD
SCISSORS
SEWING MACHINE
NEEDLE

1. Gather all materials
2. Lay the panel out and cut around the printed border of the design (most panels have a seem allowance already factored into the design)

3. Lay the two printed (right sides) together and pin in place. See with the sewing machine leaving a seem allowance as per instructions the panel, remember to leave a space at the bottom for stuffing.

4. Turn inside out do both printed sides are showing.
5. Stuff with stuffing.

6. Stitch with needle and cotton to close the space.

DONE!!

Pretty Little Bows

Introducing my brand new collection of prettly little bow tie hair clips. Each is made from vintage fabric with metal alligator clip attached on the back. They come in 3 sizes large ($8), medium ($5) and baby ($3). Check them out at my next market.

Le Carnivale

The carnivale came to town this weekend, well to be more correct, to the Mordialloc Beach Primary School. Their annual school fate fund raiser was held this post yesturday. And what a lovely day it was.
This was not just your average run of the mill school fair, this really is a lovely and well planed event with activities and entertainment for all ages. The event featured a rock wall climb, chair ride, mini jeeps, jumping castles, performances by local school children, showbags, games, numerous market stalls and a special area called "secret womens business" when one could be pampered with beauty treatments and henna.
I totally recommend you mark next years event in your calander.

Pretty Summer Dresses for Cold Spring Days

Brr, this past weekend was cold, so cold and yucky i had to cancel my weekend plans away, sadly and i was looking forward to having a few days off before the Market craziness and Christmas chaos gets into full swing. Alas it save it for another day.
Instead i used my time to mess around with some lovely vintage sewing patterns i recently purchased from eBay and the really awesome retro fabric i found at one of the many local op shops. This little summer cutie is only the second dress i've ever made. Now i'm looking forward to the summer holidays when i can wear it out and when i have the time to make some more.

New Buntings

Check out these sweet buntings which will be avaliable next week. Each are made from my huge vintage fabric stash and features 12 handmade flags measuring 15x20cm, and comes with a 30cm tie off section and metal ring for hanging.
These are perfect for dressing a room or nursery and makes a wonderful reusable party decoration.

At present they come is 3 different themes.

3. Bohemian

200 Yo-Yo's

As you might know if you've been following my blog or tweets i been sick for the last few weeks. It's kept me out of the studio for a while and confined me to my bed or the couch. But sadly i'm the type of person that becomes bored easily (even when i sick). I always need to be doing or making something, however lately due to my illness i simply don't have the energy for my usual design work.
So i recently sat down with my mountain of vintage and salvage fabrics and made 200 of these cute little 1 inch yo-yo rosettes. They're so simple and easy to make. All you need is one of these nifty little yo-yo templates from Clover, which can be found at most good craft store or online. Then simply cut and stitch your fabric as instructed and in flash.....you're done. If i get enough requests I'll be happy to put up a photo tutorial here on my blog.


The only problem was now that i made all of these cuties i just didn't really know what i wanted to do with them. So after a little procrastination, here's a few idea i came up with. Some are samples while others i've made multiples, depending on the amount of fabric i had left. I'll have them for sale on my website soon, you can also purchase these for my market stalls this coming spring/summer if interested.

oh so cute....

Here is my brand new collection of felt cushions (and my equally cute boy), they are jumbo sized versions of my felt brooches. They are so soft and cute, all hand stiched and made from super soft acrylic felt. I took them out to the market this past weekend, they had a great time even tought the weather was a little cold. They were so popular everyone want to give them a hug. The black scottie dog is not with me anymore (he got sold) but i will make soom more up soon and and them to my ever growing family.........nite nite..

Meet My New Firends

I "made" some new friends this weekend. First to be born were these sweet little red and blue Pacmen, they're made from felt and oh so cute and soft. I took them for a walk in Richmond on Saturday, but they got hungry so i took them home and the ate cup cake....yummy! The problem was the cup cakes are earrings and not food. I wanted to take them from another walk, on Sunday but when i opened the door and step outside there was a storm cloud and a rain cloud waiting for us...............i took the storm cloud and rain cloud inside and turned them into cute little felt brooches aswell...........later on, after several cups of coffees and a chocolate bar i looked out my loungeroom window and saw a pretty rainbow, i quickly ran into my bedroom and grabbed my butterfly catching net and scooped up the rainbow and turned him into a felt brooch also.....
