Vintage Dictionary Pendants

I love old books, the smell and the feel of the pages and that lovely golden patina around the boarder of each page. Recently a came upon a collection of vintage dictionaries from around the 1960's. Most were little quarter sized books with tiny fine print, a pocket reference once used in schools. They were so cute i had too find a way of using them in my jewellery, these sweet little pieces are the end result.

Each little necklace features a clipping from my collection of vintage dictionaries set under a magnifying glass bubble cab and mounted onto a hand antiqued frame. The pendants measures 33x22 mm and comes presented on a 46cm hand antiqued alloy chain. Only $18 each.

Buttons Galore

I must admit Kawaii cutie style is not my thing but i just can't get past novelty buttons, especially vintage ones. I have no use for buttons in my work but seem to be accumulating them anyway.
So recently i began converting these buttons into cabochons and setting them on earring posts, for no other reason other than to make use of my button collection. Now my little button earring family has expanded to 14, and as much as i try to resist i just can't help but search "novelty buttons" so i'm sure there will be more additions to the family

3 New Coin Purses

It's been a busy week, not sleeping enough, drinking too much coffee and compulsively creating as per usual, but as a result i have 3 new coin purses designs now in store.

First we have cute little Russian Nesting Dolls, printed in red on cream coloured cotton. Next we have super sweet sleepy owl. Both these prints are imported from Japan although i managed to pick these up at a recent trade show i went to in Melbourne

And the third purse is from some of the most interesting cotton fabric i've seen. It features a reproduction print of what looks like a dictionary style bird species reference guide. I was lucky enough to score this fabric from my local quilters shop - we don't have too much in the town i live in but we do have a decented fabric shop.

All these new goodie can now be purchased from my online store for $30 (free shipping) but i only have avalible one of each (at present) so i don't think they will stay in stock for too long. Enjoy!!

Vintage & Kitsch Fabric Coin Purses

For some time now i have been collecting quirky Japanese and retro vintage fabrics. I would go to local trash and treasure markets every weekend when i lived in the city, there would usually be a couple of stalls that had random lengths of fabric, beautiful retro vintage design for 20 cents a pieces. Very soon i had a whole crate full of fabric pieces and not really sure what to do with them. Buy sheer luck one night on during one of my “late night online expeditions” i found a supplier of hand bag handles and purse frames. After s few trial designs my “Quirky Coin Purse” line was born. These were and instant hit and immediately picked up by a couple of my suppliers.

I began to search for new and fun designs, on Etsy.com i can across a mountain of kitschy retro Japanese printed cotton fabrics, everything from Alice in Wonderland, to Bambi to cute birdies. Needless to say new carte of fabric is now over flowing with cotton delights

I’ve also just discovered a stunning little Quilting fabric shop is the small town i just moved into. They stock a lot of “classic” fabric designs, there i found some darling teal coloured fabric with floral design featuring birds, so i now have some “chic” styles to the line
Sadly these purses take ages to make, as all the purse frames need to sewn in by hand and with all the other goings on i haven’t the time to make too many. A small selection is currently in store at incube8r in Melbourne and i hope to have the full range listed on my website and my Etsy store in the next few weeks.
